The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Workday Enterprise Director. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of SCS.  The position will be located in Las Vegas or Reno, Nevada.  

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions : two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute.  The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.

The major purpose of this position is to oversee the development, standardization, and management of the Workday administrative information system to mitigate risks, maintain continuity of operations and safeguard NSHE’s information assets. The Workday Enterprise Director is also responsible for strategic planning, initiatives, and goal setting, execution and follow up review with stakeholders. The Workday Enterprise Director oversees the Business Analyst team, the Integrations and Report Writing team, the Quality Assurance team, and a Project Manager. This position coordinates between institutions to continually refine business functions across both HR and Finance to reflect best practices as well as to drive efficiency and operational effectiveness.  This position will also oversee the maintenance and enhancements of the Workday systems to leverage resources, knowledge, and best practice.

STARTING SALARY:  Grade E (starting salary range approximately $170,000 – $200,000.00; depending on experience). A benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, and retirement.

APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE: January 1, 2024

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  A successful candidate will have earned a Master’s degree in computer science, business administration or related field from a regionally accredited institution, with six (6) years of professional experience demonstrating progressively increasing leadership and management responsibility (or) a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration or related field from a regionally accredited institution, with eight (8) years of professional experience demonstrating progressively increasing leadership and management responsibility.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in building collaborative customer relations and ensuring customer satisfaction among an array of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in management of large, complex, multi-site technology projects. Experience in Workday Finance, HCM, or Payroll modules.
  • Experience in business analysis and report writing.
  • Experience in higher education ERP systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to:

  • Customer Relations – Provides excellent customer service to all constituents. Documents customer concerns. Resolves concerns. Fosters trusting and collaborative relationships with customers, coworkers, and supervisors. Anticipates customer concerns. Initiates and leads solutions to prevent or resolve concerns. Ensures a high degree of customer satisfaction as a primary responsibility. Customer Satisfaction is a key metric that informs the overall performance of the Workday team. Excellent customer relations are essential to the high performance of the information system and the team.
  • Communication – Without need for supervision, effectively communicates, and listens to team members, constituents, partners, stakeholders, vendors, and leadership. Is available and accessible to team members, supervisor, and customers. Maintaining multi-directional lines of communication is essential to ensure effective and efficient operations within the Workday enterprise information systems.
  • Program Management – Program management includes overall planning, prioritization of requests, and continuous quality improvement of the Workday administrative information system.  May involve strategic planning, risk management, issues management, cost management, quality management, prioritizing project goals and timelines, and performance management.  Assists in advising the institutions of Workday practices and improvements.  Failure in any one of these areas could negatively impact services across NSHE.
  • Process Improvement – Leads to continuous process improvement within the Workday information system and across institutional business processes where efficiency and effectiveness can be better leveraged, and Workday guiding principles can be met.
  • Team Leadership – Builds and leads a high-performance team. Monitors and evaluates employee performance. Sets and models high standard for performance. Directs goals. Coaches and corrects poor performance. Recommends disciplinary action when needed. Manages the team’s workload and ensures staff are trained to provide adequate support coverage for the various systems and services for which the team is responsible.
  • Vendor Management – The incumbent plans, prepares and manages related budgets and acts as the primary contact with the software, hardware and consulting vendors working in support of the Workday information system.  The incumbent oversees and guides vendor and consultant performance to ensure adherence to contract terms, conditions, and timelines.  Managing these roles and vendor partners is essential to successful maintenance of the Workday IS.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions : two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute.  The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees. 

NSHE System Computing Services maintains a wide variety of technology systems and applications to provide services to all NSHE institutions. Additionally, SCS is the home of NevadaNet, the primary network connectivity provider for all NSHE institutions as well as many K-12 schools, state agencies, libraries, medical facilities, and other community anchor entities. The Research Engineering group is a new dedicated mission area within NSHE, designed to increase technology capabilities and coordination across Nevada in science and engineering education, research, and associated public services as Nevada emerges as a regional leader in wide-area science and service. The Research Engineer or Senior Research Engineer leverages SCS/NevadaNet’s central position in NSHE to pioneer implementation of leading-edge technologies as part of statewide digital transformation of connectivity, research, and education. The position is responsible for the architecture, development, and maintenance of research-facing networks and computing systems at SCS, and within key Statewide programs directly supported by SCS (such as the Nevada EPSCoR Office, Nevada Seismological Laboratory, and State Climate Office). Primary areas of focus will be assigned based on the incumbent’s skills and State research/education technology development priorities. Secondary areas of focus will be assigned where needed for training and ancillary support of SCS Network Services and System Engineering teams. Areas of focus include but are not limited to elements of data network hardware and software (e.g., fiber, copper, and wireless circuits, routers, switches, wireless gateways, edge computing hosts), network monitoring (e.g., SNMP, PerfSonar, Nagios, Intermapper), network control (e.g., routing protocols, security, automation), data and computing systems (e.g., databases, store & forward protocols, visualization, throughput computing, high performance computing), and operating system and virtualization environments (e.g., Linux, Windows, software containers, public/private cloud architectures). Technologies and solutions piloted by this position in research service areas will also contribute to long-term planning and evolution of production NevadaNet and System Computing Services architectures. Under normal supervision, incumbents combine independent thinking, effective communication, and problem solving across a wide range of work at the highest level of complexity to ensure that institutional-scale or statewide team research, education, and connectivity projects have the necessary technology tools to accomplish the objectives of our universities, colleges, institutes, and community partners.

STARTING SALARY: Grade C or D (starting salary range approximately $90,000 to $110,000 for Senior Research Engineer and $110,000 to $130,000 for Principal Research Engineer) Benefits package includes health, dental, vision, life, and retirement.

APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE: December 1, 2023

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate should possess a fluency in data networking, relevant operating systems, programming/scripting languages, hardware configuration and maintenance, and tools plus have a working knowledge of relevant system environments commonly used in wide-area networks and/or academic computing. Work experience must be in a field directly related to Information Technology or Information Security. Preference will be given to candidates whose work experience is directly applicable to performing or contributing to research and development in a technical field of science or engineering; and/or whose relevant experience is in a higher education or academic environment.

Senior Research Engineer: A minimum of four (4) years of experience and a bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in computer science or related technical field and/or an advanced degree are preferred.  Alternatively, nine (9) or more years of direct experience in the position’s primary areas of expertise for a multi-user, complex enterprise or university may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Principal Research Engineer: A minimum of six (6) years of experience and a bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in computer science or related technical field and/or an advanced degree are preferred.  Alternatively, nine (9) or more years of direct experience in the position’s primary areas of expertise for a multi-user, complex enterprise or university may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer networking, server, operating system, and data concepts directly applicable to wide-area networking, internet-of-things, cloud architecture, cluster computing, and user management.

The Principal Research Engineer must also possess the following:

  • Ability to perform most work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Expert knowledge of computer networking, server, operating system, and data concepts directly applicable to wide-area networking, internet-of-things, cloud architecture, cluster computing, and user management.
  • Experience in design/deployment of data networks, especially wide-area networks and/or sensor networks.
  • Experience with Science and Research DMZ networks.
  • Experience in software infrastructure design, deployment, and management.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) level understanding of OS (especially UNIX/Linux) systems administration.
  • Experience in cloudy/foggy computing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex technical projects and systems operations.
  • Experience in leading project-related documentation efforts.
  • Experience performing difficult technical tasks and solving problems of medium to high complexity relevant to R&D initiatives within NSHE.
  • Ability to teach and train peers and less-experienced colleagues in the design/operation of technologies as one of SCS’s technical subject matter experts.
  • Ability to proactively identify potential solutions to R&D needs and effectively communicate the advantages and disadvantages of those solutions to peers and leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following areas of responsibility:

  • Install, configure, test, tune, and perform diagnostic and preventive maintenance activities in support of research computing, data, and network functions and services across NSHE. 
  • Ensure efficient, secure, and reliable operation of technology environments that face research, education, and public service.
  • Analyze and diagnose hardware and software failures, implement corrective action necessary to restore system operations, and proactively develop and implement upgrades/changes.
  • Ensure applicable security policies and procedures are taken into consideration throughout the system lifecycle to provide reliable, accurate, and efficient systems which meet NSHE’s research, education, and public service needs. 
  • Research, evaluate, design, and test new architectures, hardware, software, virtualization, best practices, utilities, methodologies, and management technology elements. 
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures and problem/change workflows for research networks, computing, software, and data environments. 
  • Pursue collegial integration across NSHE institutions with students, faculty, and staff through project collaboration, solutions development, training opportunities, and committee service.
  • Work directly with state-wide research/service programs within NSHE to advance research/service data workflows and applications between these programs and their stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with SCS and NSHE technical colleagues as new research-facing technology solutions are developed and coordinated. 
  • Document infrastructure topology, asset inventories, customer and vendor service agreements as well as other administrative, technical, or historical documentation as needed.
  • Contribute to nationally and internationally impactful science and engineering working groups with networking and technology applications.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: three universities, four community colleges, and a research institute.  The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience rapid growth, with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Director of Workday and assists NSHE stakeholders in identifying and documenting their business processes and suggests refinements and improvements to those processes.  The Senior Business Analyst also provides user support in complex problem analysis and resolution; designs and develops reports and data extracts that support business processes; develops technical specifications that support application customizations and assists in quality assurance testing.  The position serves as a bridge between the campus functional, internal and external project team members, and the SCS technical areas, and so he/she should have an excellent higher education functional knowledge as well as a technical background.

STARTING SALARY:  Grade C (starting salary: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 to commensurate with education, experience, and training). Benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life, and retirement. 

APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE:  November 1, 2023.

  • As both the functional expert and the developer of technical specifications, the Senior Business Analyst is an integral component in the creation of the technical solutions for identified client business needs.
  • The Senior Business Analyst assists the client in developing effective testing scripts and ensures that applications are well tested.
  • As a key player in IT projects, the Senior Business Analyst, led by a senior IT team member, will participate on and provide input to IT projects.
  • The Senior Business Analyst is the liaison between the campus functional user and the SCS technical staff. They turn business requirements into technical specifications so that other IT staff members can use these technical specifications to modify existing or develop new application functions.
  • Limited travel with overnight stays may be required in support of activities related to the position.
  • As a key holder of both business process and application knowledge, it falls to the Senior Business Analyst to effectively communicate user needs to the IT community, to align stakeholder expectations with resource availability and application capabilities, and to keep all involved parties informed and coordinated on project progression.  The Senior Business Analyst also will be a Project Lead for IAS on many IT projects that have a direct impact on the business applications SCS supports;

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Desktop Support Analyst.  This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Director of Client Services.   The position will be located in Reno, Nevada.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions :  two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute.  The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees. 

Under the direction of the Director of Client Services, the Senior Desktop Support Analyst is responsible for providing desktop, laptop, peripheral, tablet, and smartphone service, support, and maintenance to SCS, SA business units, and the Board of Regents. In fulfilling this responsibility, the Senior Desktop Support Analyst will:

  • Develop relationships with departments, vendors, and individual clients to ensure an appropriate understanding of services and business needs.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise student and other part-time resources.
  • Imaging and software deployment solutions
  • Patching and updating solutions.
  • Endpoint security solutions
  • Inventory and asset management solutions

The incumbent will also attend and support both regular and special Board of Regents meetings. This may mean occasional travel.

Additionally, the Senior Desktop Support Analyst will have and/or develop expertise in one or more of the following to assist Client Services with product management:

  • Windows AD and file services
  • Email, contacts, and calendaring
  • IP phone administration
  • Incident and project management applications
  • Imaging, software deployment, and software updating solutions.
  • Procurement, lifecycle management, and asset management
  • Business productivity applications

The Senior Desktop Support Analyst will also install, maintain, and upgrade appropriate desktop and software and server software as appropriate; establish and maintain user accounts, profiles, and settings; document and improve workflow and processes; coordinate and deliver training and orientations; and serve as a subject matter expert in relevant IT areas.

The Senior Desktop Support Analyst should be prepared to collaborate with other internal working groups and customer groups to assist with Client Services roles in organization projects and services.

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Application Administrator.  This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Director of Client Services.  The position will be based in either Reno or Las Vegas.  

The Application Administrator is responsible for providing service and support for business solutions for NSHE System Administration and SCS staff, the NSHE Board of Regents, and select NSHE institution personnel. This role includes building, maintaining, and updating solutions; provisioning and administering roles and user accounts; configuring settings; providing user support and training; documenting and improving workflows and processes; and serving as subject matter expert. The application administrator also provides backup desktop support. The position attends and supports Board of Regents meetings and may occasionally travel. The Application Administrator collaborates with other internal working groups and customer groups to assist in organization projects and services.

SALARY/GRADE: Grade B (starting salary: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 to commensurate with education, experience, and training). Benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life, and retirement.

NSHE maintains a wide area network and multiple data centers along with a wide variety of systems and applications to provide services to all of its institutions.  The Business Analyst is an integral part of the overall NSHE Workday team.  The Business Analyst position supports the Workday enterprise information system’s ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of related business processes, configuration, and related activities across the NSHE institutions.  This position provides a bridge between the campus functional and the SCS technical areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in business or a related field from an accredited institution, and two (2) years of directly applicable experience as a business analyst, or a Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with one (1) year of directly applicable experience,   Alternatively, five or more years direct related experience in a large corporation or university environment where a combination equivalent skills and knowledge were acquired will be considered.  Background and experience in higher education and/or expertise for a large enterprise or university is preferred.

  • Knowledge of key business functions in higher education in HCM functional areas such as core, recruiting, talent, absence, and benefits
  • Knowledge of information systems in higher education to support the functions above
  • Knowledge of business analysis methods for process improvement and process redesign
  • Ability to translate business process redesign and automation into administrative efficiencies
  • Ability and experience in aligning data, policies, workflows, and information systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, specifically with respect to consensus building, presentation of ideas and plans, and project participation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an end-user service orientation

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to:

Academic Professionals fill specialized positions in academic, research, healthcare, technical, and administrative areas. A minimum of a bachelor's degree, and often an advanced degree, is required for employment.

Civil Service and Extra Help

As the largest reentry employment provider in the country, CEO is using our scale, experience, and data – backed by our participants’ feedback on what works – to change the way government invests in criminal justice and workforce development.

Our Strategy

Direct service.

Over the last 10 years, CEO has grown from a single site in New York City to over 30 sites across 12 states. Now serving more than 8,000 individuals each year, CEO’s scaling is purposeful and focused on meeting the needs of our participants.

We know CEO alone cannot solve our system’s problems. Our team works closely with government leaders and advocates to increase public investment in reentry employment services and remove overly punitive barriers to employment that often accompany a criminal conviction.

Tuition Waiver

All Colleges within KCTCS offer tuition waivers to employees, spouses and dependent children (age 23 or less, as defined by federal financial aid guidelines) for up to 18 credit hours per year (six hours in the fall, spring, and summer) per person at any KCTCS college.

KCTCS employees receive 7.5 hours of paid time off to volunteer per Fiscal Year (July 1 – June 30). Spend your day-off volunteering and wearing your College's gear making our community a better place!

All Colleges within KCTCS observe a two-week institutional closing beginning in December, which will include the day before Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
